Your Zakat Brings Happiness to Those in Need

نَوَيْتُ أَنْ أُخْرِجَ زَكاَةَ اْلفطر عَنْ نَفْسِيْ فَرْضًالِلهِ تَعَالَى

While we cherish moments of togetherness with our families, countless orphaned children spend their days without the warmth of parental love. They endure simplicity and hardships beyond what we can imagine. Through zakat, we can become a small light in the darkness of their lives. But are orphaned children also eligible to receive zakat? Let us understand and manifest our compassion.

Rendy is an orphan who never stops fighting for a better life. At just 12 years old, he has already shouldered the significant responsibility of helping his mother earn a living. After school, he changes out of his uniform into simple clothes and helps his mother sell nasi uduk on the roadside until late at night.

Since his father's passing, Rendy's life has changed drastically. His mother became the family's sole breadwinner, selling nasi uduk to support Rendy and his two siblings. Despite their limited circumstances, Rendy has grown into a resilient and spirited young boy.

Eventually, Rendy became one of the orphaned students at RQV Indonesia, where he studies and memorizes the Qur'an.

There are still many orphans and underprivileged children who, like Rendy, study and memorize the Qur'an at RQV Indonesia.

These Qur'an memorizers and lovers come from various regions. The young Qur'an memorizers are taught to read, write, and memorize the Qur'an, while young individuals are trained at the Character-Based Tahfidzul Qur'an School to become pioneers of goodness. They are equipped to contribute by teaching the Qur'an to communities in remote areas across the country.

Quoting Imam Abu Bakar Al-Husaini Al-Hishni As-Syafii in his book Kifayatul Akhyar, he states:
"A child (orphan) who is still young and has no one to provide for them, some opinions suggest that they should not receive zakat because they are supported through the portion of orphans derived from ghanimah (spoils of war from disbelievers). However, according to the most authentic opinion (The most correct), the child may receive zakat, which should be channeled to their guardian or caregiver."

This explanation highlights the flexibility and compassion in Islamic jurisprudence regarding the welfare of orphans, ensuring they are cared for even when traditional support mechanisms are unavailable.

Zakat is not just an obligation, but also a way for us to draw closer to Allah and help those in need. Let’s fulfill your zakat now!
